Experiment code 19.8.3.16
Experiment Title Isolation, characterization and partial purification of IAA produced by the paddy rhizospheric bacteria
Research Type Departmental Research
Experiment Background Indole acetic acid (IAA) plays an important role in the plant growth promoting activities such as leaf formation, embryo development, root initiation, fruit development, etc. Hormone IAA is also helpful in the enhancement of root length with increase in number of root branches, root hairs and root laterals that aid in uptake of nutrients from surrounding. IAA is also known to produce by number of rhizospheric plant inhabiting bacteria that exert beneficial effect on plant growth and development. Additionally, IAA production from bacteria is found to be affected by variety of physico-chemical parameters in the production medium. Therefore, IAA production can be maximized by optimizing medium parameters like pH, temperature, carbon and nitrogen sources.
