Experiment code 19.3.3.17
Experiment Title Standardization of nutrients requirement for the growth of Termitomyces sp. under in vitro
Research Type Departmental Research
Experiment Background Fungi are an extremely diverse group of microorganisms that have a major influence on terrestrial ecosystems that serve as major decomposers, provide enzymes, food, drugs and serve as experimental organisms. Termitomyces are believed to degrade lignocelluloses into smaller units which then can be used by the fungus-growing termites. Termitomyces fungi grow on or around termite nests, but the exact relationship between them is yet debating. The genus Termitomyces form symbiotic relationship with termites. Termitomyces is a delicious edible fungus, but it is still difficult to artificially cultivate. So the present experiment is designed to find out the nutritional requirement for artificial growth under in vitro condition.
