Experiment Title | Foraging activity of honeybees in muskmelon(Cucumis melo)
Research Type | Departmental Research
Experiment Background | Pollination is a very important free ecosystem service, mediated by insects mostly it is honeybees, Several species of honeybees are considered as important pollinating agents in cucurbits and play a pivotal role in the pollination. It is known that the foraging activity of honeybees initiated in early morning and finishes in the evening. Foraging have the ability to remember the time of the day at which the higher food resources are available and such ability may correlate with foraging activity peaks.

Treatment |
Methodology: The experimental plot will be kept free from any insecticidal spray during flowering peroid. Observations will be recored for honey bees visiting the musk melon field during flowering at 6 hrs to 18 hrs at i hr interval for five minutes in each plot of 2 sq. ft. area from four spot during pick flowering period at weekly interval from musk melon field. |
