| Experiment Title | Inter and intra population variation for fruit and nut characters in Charoli (Buchnania lanzan). | ||

| Experiment Background | Buchanania lanzan is a tree which produces the seeds known as charoli (or chironji). These almond-flavoured seeds are used as a cooking spice primarily in India. The charoli seed is lentil-sized, is slightly flattened and has an almond-like flavour. Though they can be eaten and used raw they are often toasted or roasted before use, as this intensifies the flavour. They are commonly used in sweets in India. However, they are also ground into powders for thickening savory sauces and flavoring batters. Oil extracted from seed has medicinal value. Its nut has good demand in foreign market. Which has pressurized the natural population. To decrease the pressure on natural population it is essential to improve the crop and bring in to cultivation. The knowledge of inter and intra population variability is essential for decision support in selection and improvement. Hence the present investigation has been formulated with following objectives. | ||
