Experiment Background | Controlling plant size is one of the most important aspects of HDP/UHDP in fruit crops. Plant Height controls by many factors such as genetically, environmentally, culturally or chemically. Genetic control of plant height is primarily achieved by selecting dwarf genotypes or cultivars. Environmental control involves manipulating light hours/intensity or temperature regulation. Cultural control included moisture management (stress) and phosphorus or nitrogen deprivation. An alternative effective strategy for controlling plant height is to use chemical plant growth retardants. Plant growth retardants are an incredibly useful tool. Growers can achieve crop specific height control by selecting the proper PGRs, using the optimal application techniques and using the right solution strength for individual crops. Now a day, banana is emerged as high remunerative crop. Although having a higher plant height stature it needs staking with bamboo after bunch initiation. To subside this, current study will be performed with use of plant growth regulators on banana to induce dwarfing and to evaluate the field performance. | ||
