Experiment Title EFFECT OF GROWTH REGULATORS ON YIELD OF PIGEON PEA VAR. GT-104
Research Type Departmental Research
Experiment Background Pigeon pea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.] is an important pulse crop extensively grown in different cropping systems on almost all type of soil and in all the districts of Gujarat state. In Gujarat, it is cultivated in an area of 3.36 lakh hectares with productivity of 1104 kg/ha (Anon., 2016). South Gujarat is main pigeon pea growing region of our state wherein it covers 1.60 lakh hectares of area. A new variety of pigeon pea var. GT 104 released by pulses Research Station, N.A.U., is found promising for higher yield. This variety possesses long pod with 5-7 seeds per pod. This variety having spreading plant type with red flower and dark green foliage. Dwarf varieties in pigeon pea is always desirable and most preferred by farmers. Spray of growth retardant will switch over its vegetative phase to reproductive and in indeterminate varieties more number of pods in short duration and for synchronized maturity it is proposed with following objectives.
