Experiment code 20.3.3.3
Experiment Title Effect of land configuration on rabi niger(Guizotiaabyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) and summer greengram (Vigna radiate L.) varieties grown after kharif transplanted rice
Research Type State Trial
Experiment Background In rice, kharif season required puddling operation, which deteriorate physical condition of clay soil. The land configuration can play an important role for easy and uniform germination as well as growth and development of plants. Suitable land configuration would enhance the production and productivity of rabi crops sown after kharif rice. Niger although considered a minor oilseed crop. Niger is mainly grown in kharif, but it can be successfully grown in semi rabi and late kharif season with limited irrigation. However, niger predominantly grown in tribal pockets of different states of India with old local varieties and poor crop management as a result of poor yield and quality seed. In order to generate information about land configuration and varieties for niger present study is planned.
