Experiment Title | Effect of nano urea application in elephant foot yam
Research Type | AICRP Research
Experiment Background | Elephant foot yam has now become a very popular edible aroid in many tropical and sub-tropical countries. It plays an important role in vegetative diet. It has high production potential, good taste and cooking quality. In elephant foot yam, the maximum cultivated area is occupied by local variety in Gujarat but Gajendra, a local selection from Kovvur area of Andhra Pradesh, is popular throughout the country including south Gujarat. Although chemical fertilizers increase crop productivity, they create an imbalance in the soil's mineral content and decrease soil fertility. Nano-fertilizers have emerged as a promising alternative that ensures high crop production and soil restoration.T herefore, above experiment has been framed up to find out the best suited treatment and to standardize the nano urea application in elephant foot yam.

Treatment |
Treat 1. As per the PoP recommendation of the State Basal Application: 50% N (through ordinary urea: Soil) +100 % P through Mussoorie Phos /Rajphos + 50% K as basal through MoP at 50 % sprouting I top dressing: 25 % N (through ordinary urea: Soil) + 25 % K through soil at one month after basal application II Top dressing: 25 %N (through ordinary urea: Soil) + 25 % K through MoP at two months after basal application
Treat 2. IFFCO Nano urea as foliar spray Basal Application: 50 % N (through ordinary urea: Soil) + 100 % P through Mussoorie Phos /Rajphos + 50 % K through MoP as basal at 50 % sprouting I top dressing: 25 % N (through nano urea: Foliar) + 25 % K through MoP at one month after basal application II Top dressing: 25 % N (through nano urea: Foliar) + 25 % K through MoP at two months after basal application Treat 3. 2% ordinary urea in two foliar sprays in place of 2 foliar sprays of nano urea Basal Application: 50 % N (through ordinary urea: Soil) + 100 % P through Mussoorie Phos /Rajphos + 50% K as basal through MoP at 50 % sprouting I top dressing: 2 % urea as foliar spray + 25 % K through MoP at one month after basal application II top dressing: 2 % urea as foliar spray + 25 % K through MoP at two months after basal application
Treat 4. PoP (Treat 1) + IFFCO nano urea foliar spray Basal application: 50 % N (through ordinary urea: soil) + 100 % P through Mussoorie Phos /Rajphos + 50 % K as basal through MoP at 50% sprouting I top dressing: 25 % N (through ordinary urea: Soil) + 25 % N (through nano urea: foliar) + 25 % K through MoP at one month after basal application II Top dressing: 25 % N (through ordinary urea: soil) + 25 % N (through nano urea: Foliar ) + 25 % K through MoP at two months after basal application Treat 5. PoP (Treat 1) + urea 2% foliar spray Basal application: 50 % N (through ordinary urea: Soil) +100 % P Mussoorie Phos / Rajphos + 50 % K as basal through MoP at 50 % sprouting I top dressing: 25 % N (through ordinary urea: soil) +2 % urea as foliar spray + 25 % K through MoP at one month after basal application II Top dressing: 25 % N (through ordinary urea: soil) + 2 % urea as foliar spray +25 % K through MoP at two months after basal application |
