Evaluation of medicinal plants as intercrop under cashewnut plantation

Experiment Background
Valsad, Navsari and Dang are leading cashew growing areas of Gujarat contributing more than 90% production of raw cashew from more than 6000 ha. Dharampur, Kaparada and Vansada are very well known for cashew cultivation. However, mono cropping of cashew many times unable to give expected economic returns. On the other hand there are some medicinal crops which gives good economic returns, is a viable agronomic practice for stepping up the production as well as productivity of a system from a unit area during a cropping period.
Keeping this fact in mind an experiment is proposed to better utilization of available moisture after the monsoon and to enhance the soil fertility by cultivation of some suitable medicinal crops with the following objectives:
