Experiment Title Knowledge and adoption of Novel-Organic Liquid Nutrients and Novel plus among vegetable growers in Surat district
Research Type Survey Work
Experiment Background Trend of organic farming is increasing day by day and it’s most urgent need to human being. Navsari Agricultural University is also working on organic farming concept and regularly updating package of practices of different crops through organic inputs. Reduction in the use of chemical fertilizer as well as different agro chemicals as pesticides/fungicide without significant effect on production and quality of commodities is a main object of scientists. NAUROJI Novel Organic Liquid Nutrient: Novel contains all the nutrients viz. Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Zink, Iron, Boron, Mn, Mg, Ca, S, Cu etc. Not only these, but it also contains plant growth hormones like Gibbrelic acid and Cytokines. Novel also contains bacteria which can improve soil health. Novel can be useful in different stages of plant growth e.g. vegetative development, flowering, fruit setting, fruit development etc. Novel can be use in different crops in different stages by various methods like fertigation, drenching, foliar spray, injection, cone feeding etc. When the knowledge and adoption level of farmers and their intervention ways of nutrient management practices are known, it can lead to more refined approaches of control measures considering their own methods. Hence better promotion of nutrient management practices depending on the farmers economic and social conditions. The proposed study will conducted to know present status of okra & brinjal and the extent of nutrient management practices used by farmers in the tribal belt of Surat district.

Research Methodology

The survey will be carried out at fortnightly interval for knowledge & adoption about Novel & Novel plus among vegetable growers in the three block of Surat district (Choryasi, Mangrol, Mahuva). From each block 100 farmers will be randomly selected for vegetable crops. The sample size for the study comprise of 300 respondents. The interview schedule was prepared in English language and the questions was asked in local/Guajarati language to ease the communication with respondents in the study area. To collect the data from the respondents, a personal interview method was used. An ex-post facto research design was used for analysis. The collected data were analyzing by using appropriate method of analysis viz., percentage, mean, standard deviation, correlation co-efficient and rank.
