Experiment Title Effect of water soluble nutrients on growth, yield and quality of long pepper grown under coconut garden

Experiment Background Piper longum L. commercially called as long pepper and commonly known as pippali is an important spice cum medicinal plant belonging to the family Piperaceae. Foliar fertilization or foliar feeding entails the supply of nutrients, plant hormones, stimulants and other beneficial substances in liquid form to plant through areal parts of the plants viz., leaves and stems and other sites to realize enhanced yield and quality, resistance to pest, improved drought tolerance and also be used to aid plants in recovery from transplant shock, hail damage, or the results of other weather extremes. The plants can absorb nutrients about 20 times fast through the leaves than applied through the soil. Therefore, water soluble nutrients are helpful to overcome the nutrient shortages and stimulate the growth of the plants during the season. Therefore, in view of considering the above facts, the experiment is laid out with following objectives:
