Experiment Background
Cotton is an important commercial crop grown for fibre, fuel and edible oil. It plays an important role in Indian economy. In Gujarat, cotton is grown in about 27.16 lakh ha in Gujarat. Today cotton ecosystem is dominated by the Bt cotton in irrigated condition as early as April-May than recommended normal sowing of June-July in other areas without irrigation facility. The various technologies have been tested/under testing against the pink bollworm elsewhere across the globe. Amongst all, splat technology of mating disruption pheromone based technology showed promise as environment friendly and claimed effective. Hence, the program is proposed to evaluate its efficacy under south Gujarat condition.
