Experiment Title Canopy management in mango cv Totapuri under high density planting

Experiment Background Presently mango is being planted under high density system of plantation at different spacings for getting maximum yield. In such condition, the yield starts to decrease after 10 to 15 years due to intermingling of branches. Hence to sustain the yield; canopy management practice is required to follow. Therefore, to standardize the suitable canopy management practice, this experiment is proposed.

(I) Spacing:

(II) Pruning: (One time)

P1: Light pruning

(Removal of previous year’s growth  by 30 cm + removal of intermingling branches + Skirting at 2 m above ground level)

P2: Medium pruning

(Removal of previous year’s growth  by 50 cm + removal of intermingling branches + Skirting at 2 m above ground level)

P3: Heavy pruning

(Removal of previous year’s growth  by 1m + removal of intermingling branches + Skirting at 2 m above ground level)
