Experiment Title | DISSIPATION KINETICS AND RESIDUES OF PYROXASULFONE IN WHEAT FIELD ECOSYSTEM | ||

Experiment Background | Pyroxasulfone (C 12 H 14 F 5 N 3 O 4 S) 3-{[5-(difluoromethoxy)-1-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H- pyrazol-4-yl] methanesulfonyl}-5, 5-dimethyl-4, 5-dihydro-1, 2- oxazole, a pre-emergence herbicide belonging to Isoxazoline chemical family. Pyroxasulfone control the pre-emergence weeds by inhibiting the very-long-chain fatty acid elongase enzyme in susceptible weeds particularly grass and broadleaf weed species with excellent selectivity. This herbicide has recently been registered for use in maize, soybean and wheat in India to control the weeds.The duration and efficacy of herbicides for weed control are governed by various factors such as soil properties, rainfall, and field preparation as well as the chemical properties of the herbicide itself. Knowledge of the impact of factors influencing weedicide efficacy will facilitate the effective and safe use of herbicides vis-a-vis it would also be helpful for decision-makers for their safer management in different environmental compartments. The information regarding dissipation behavior of pyroxasulfone in soil and its residues in wheat under South Gujarat condition is still not available. Considering all these fact, the above mentioned experiment is planned and purposed to determine the dissipation kinetics of pyroxasulfone in soil under wheat ecosystem. | ||
