Nutrient management in Dill Seed under south Gujarat condition
Research Type
Departmental Research
Experiment Background
Dill Seed (Anethum graveolens) is one of the important crop of North-West Climatic region of the Gujarat State It is easy to grow and have a capacity to withstand against moisture stress as well as salt conditions. Therefore this crop is best alternate for region of Bara tract comprising of Amod, Jambusar and Vagara talukas of Bharuch district. But negligible research has been accomplished on fertilizer management in Dill Seed. Now a day due to availability of Narmada Canal water for irrigation and farmers have started irrigated agriculture and majority of the fields near canal distributaries are under irrigation for rabi season crop. Some farmers are also using tube well water such and in cyclic mode with canal water for irrigation. Therefore, it is necessary to know fertilizer management in saline water (irrigation) condition. The information on fertilizer requirement of Dill Seed crop under irrigation condition of an area can go a long way in planning to develop economically viable alternatives for farming community. There are no specific recommendations regarding their dose. Keeping in above fact, the experiment is planned.
